ToggleWhat are corrugated boxes?
Corrugated boxes are packaging containers made from corrugated fiberboard.
This material features a fluted, or wavy, middle layer sandwiched between two flat linerboards, providing strength and durability.
They’re widely used for shipping and packaging due to their protective qualities, versatility in sizes and shapes, and cost-effectiveness.
Additionally, they are often made from and are themselves recyclable, making them a relatively sustainable packaging option.

How Corrugated Boxes Are Made
Corrugated boxes are made by corrugating medium paper into flutes, then gluing it between linerboard sheets. This creates strong, layered cardboard. It’s cut, creased, folded, and glued into box shapes, sometimes printed, and then quality-checked before shipping.
Corrugated Boxes vs Paper Boxes
Paper boxes, made from thin paperboard, are for light retail items. Corrugated boxes, with a fluted inner layer, are stronger, ideal for shipping and heavy items. Corrugated offers superior protection, while paper boxes are better for consumer packaging.
